With the onset of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has started preparations to deal with floods on a war footing. According to meteorologists, monsoon is expected to arrive in the state between 20 and 25 June. In such a situation, the state government has become alert. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has recently ordered the officials to prepare a blueprint to deal with the flood situation in a high-level meeting, so that the people of the state and their cattle can be taken to a safe place in time.
Relief Commissioner GS Naveen said that preparations have been started to deal with the flood situation. The state has been divided into three parts. It includes 29 districts in the highly sensitive category, 11 in the sensitive category and 35 in the normal category. Teams have been formed and alerted for special monitoring in these. These teams include officers and employees of irrigation, agriculture and animal husbandry departments.
Apart from this, 7 teams of NDRF, 18 teams of SDRF and 17 teams of PAC have been deployed to deal with the flood. The Relief Commissioner’s Office has prepared a roster for daily review by receiving reports from the Meteorological Department, Irrigation Department, Agriculture Department and Central Water Commission during the flood period so that necessary action can be taken regarding flood management.
Training of disaster friends and volunteers
To deal with the floods, the state level emergency operation center has also been activated, where a 20-seater call center is operating for round-the-clock relief helpline 1070. Through this, the officers posted in the flood-affected districts will be updated with the real situation through SMS and voice calls.
District Emergency Operation Centers have been set up in all districts with video conferencing facilities, which have been connected to the state level relief control room. Apart from this, 400 disaster friends have been deployed, who have been provided uniforms, ID cards, certificates and emergency responder kits along with 15 days of training. Apart from this, 10,500 volunteers have been trained.
